Legal Counsel | Yorkshire | 2-4+ Years' PQE | Hybrid working
An exciting opportunity for a commercially minded solicitor to join an established in-house legal team, advising on a broad range of commercial, corporate and regulatory matters within a diverse, multi-sector business.
We are working with a well-established, billion pound turnover, internationally operating organisation seeking a Legal Counsel to join its group legal team in Yorkshire.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will join a team of six lawyers within a wider legal function encompassing commercial contracts, data protection and company secretarial support. You will work alongside experienced senior legal professionals, gaining valuable exposure to complex commercial arrangements, strategic business decisions and a variety of legal and regulatory challenges.
The role offers considerable scope for professional development, with increasing responsibility and decision-making authority as you establish yourself within the business. You will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with senior management and key stakeholders across the organisation, developing your ability to deliver practical legal solutions that support wider business objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
· Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts.
· Providing proactive legal advice and identifying commercial and contractual risks.
· Supporting corporate governance, compliance and risk management.
· Advising on disputes, litigation and other business-critical legal matters.
· Developing legal precedents, delivering training and working closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
· Leveraging legal AI tools to enhance research, contract review and drafting processes.
About you:
· The team handle an incredibly diverse range of legal work, so whilst this role would be well suited to a commercial, corporate or projects lawyer, they are equally open to individuals from insolvency, construction or property backgrounds
· You'll have a minimum of 2 years pqe upwards, and training from a reputable commercial law firm
· Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
· Strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
· Experience using legal AI tools such as Harvey, Gemini or Copilot.
· Able to manage competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
